Herre 2 vandt sikkert over Eggeslevmagle
FFK Herre 2 registered their second successive victory in the middle of nowhere away to Eggeslevmagle SG&IF Floorball. FFK wiped the sleep from their eyes and started brightly in the early morning match, applying themselves well to move into second position in the league. FFK had a lot of early possession and this proved to be the story of the match, with wave after wave of FFK pressure only intermittently interrupted by unconvincing Eggeslevmagle counter attacks.
FFK broke the deadlock early in the first period when Jamie Black’s firm pass/shot went untouched by FFK debutant Sune Aamund but sneaked through the goalkeeper’s legs. FFK extended their lead in the following shift when Henrik Svensson reacted first to the rebound from Sam Leeds long range effort, firing home from close range.
Realising their inferiority the scrappy countryside team adopted increasingly defensive tactics, focusing purely on fast breaks as FFK were piling the pressure on the Eggeslevmagle defenders every time they gained possession. The Eggeslevmagle tactics had some success and FFK failed to score until the twelfth minute of the second period despite nice build-up play and long spells without the opposition touching the ball.
The breakthrough came when a long range shot from Rune Thomsen. “It was a lightning bolt… It almost took the goalie’s balls off” commented the FFK captain. This may have been an exaggeration but it did reveal once again the goalkeeper’s weakness on low shots, a trait which FFK had intended to exploit. Shortly before the end of the period, Svensson (assisted by Jeppe Regel) notched up his second giving FFK an unassailable 4-0 lead going into the final period. It was probably a rebound but I can’t really remember.
FFK continued to push for goals but were caught out by a counterattack when some poor FFK defending allowed the Eggeslevmagle captain to slip through into a good shooting position. FFK goalkeeper Chrisoffer Christiansen, who had made good saves on the few occasions that he was forced into action, was unable to stop the shot from flying into the top of the net.
FFK did not let this phase them and Leeds registered his third assist of the game feeding a square pass in to Black in the centre who turned and shot into the corner. Petter Tyberg wrapped up the victory when some clever individual play saw him dribble past 2 defenders to score from close range giving FFK a 6-1 victory.
Following the thoroughly enjoyable match, giddy FFK team organiser Patrik Wallin skipped out of the changing room saying “I’m so excited, I have to go and call Sven.” The jubilant mood continued as FFK enjoyed a well deserved McDonalds on the way home.
FFK may have to work harder for their points against third placed Benløse FC in their next game but have shown that they can be a match for anyone in the league.
